Nan grew up in Ithaca, New York, and moved to Burlington, Vermont, in 2020 after many years in Boston and Colorado. On a whim, she took a clay class at the Shelburne Craft School — and was hooked. She loves the people and energy of the studio and quickly found a home away from home. One of her favorite experiences so far has been an unforgettable trip to Nishiawakura, Japan.
Nan majored in Spanish at Middlebury College, where she met her husband, Tim. After living in Bolivia and Spain, she became a lawyer, practicing law and teaching business ethics for more than three decades while she and Tim raised their two daughters.
When she isn’t in the pottery studio, Nan and Tim enjoy frequent trips to Southern California to see their daughters and three grandchildren. They share a love of the outdoors and enjoy traveling, cycling, hiking, playing in a Burlington bocce league, and caring for their 175-acre tree farm in Shrewsbury, Vermont.
