For 80 years, Shelburne Craft School has been a place where people slow down, work with their hands, and experience the joy of making. What began in 1938 as woodworking classes for local boys grew into a thriving nonprofit rooted on Harbor Road, expanding over the decades to include ceramics, weaving, painting, and more.
Inspired by the American Craft movement and shaped by generations of makers, the school continues to foster small, creative communities where people can learn new skills and say, with pride, “I made that.” Today, as interest in hands-on craft grows again, Shelburne Craft School is flourishing — expanding access, deepening community partnerships, and celebrating eight decades of creative connection.
